Wildly Popular Wild Wine, Beer, and Food Safari to Benefit the Zoo

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — June 4, 2014 — Animal lovers, wine aficionados, and food connoisseurs from near and far will gather under the stars for the annual “Wild Wine, Beer, and Food Safari” benefitting Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 6:00 – 9:00 PM (rain or shine). The evening will include live entertainment by The Navels as well as a fabulous silent auction.

“This event sells out every year and it’s easy to understand why! What could be better than enjoying the Zoo on a beautiful early summer night while sampling the best wine, beer, and food the region has to offer?” asked Gregg Dancho, zoo director. “A special thank you to all of our sponsors who make this an unforgettable evening each year.”

Hosted by Stepney Wine of Monroe & Black Rock Wine of Fairfield, guests will enjoy sampling beer selections from Abita; Beaver Beer Company; Bershire Brewing Company; Brooklyn Brewery; Captain Lawrence Brewing Company; Cisco Brewery; Goose Island Brewing Co; Harpoon Brewery, Lagunitas Brewing Co; Latis Imports; Narragansett Brewing Company; Otter Creek Brewing; Smuttynose Brewing Company; Stone Brewing Company; Stony Creek Brewery; Two Roads Brewery; Victory Brewing Company; and Weyerbacher Brewing Company.

This year, participating vintners promise to offer Connecticut’s lowest prices and will be donating ten percent of their sales to Connecticut’s only zoo. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste offerings from Angelini Wine; Aventine Hill; Boisset Selections; Brescome Barton; Connecticut Distributor Inc. This expedition of taste will feature delectable fare from local restaurants and caterers such as Addeo’s Italian Ice; Bistro Catering; Borgia’s B2B Bagels; Carl Anthony’s Trattoria; Chili’s Bar & Grill; David Grant Catering; Joey C’s Roadhouse BBQ & Tex Mex; Johnny Utah’s; Liquid Lunch; Luigi’s Italian Pastries; Old Post Tavern; Rita’s Italian Ice; Smoke & Bones; Source Coffeehouse; Stationhouse Wine Bar & Grill; Tony’s Huntington Inn; Trader Joe’s; and Vazzy’s Brick Oven.

Tickets are $55 each for groups of four or more, $60 for individual tickets, and may be purchased online at beardsleyzoo.org. Tickets also may be purchased at the door for $65 per person, if available. As part of this seasonal celebration, Aquarion Water Company will announce the winners of its Annual Connecticut Environmental Champions contest during a special ceremony. Awards will be presented to champions whose volunteer projects have protected and improved the state’s natural resources – its water, air, soils, and plant and wildlife communities.
